Virginia National Board Certified Teacher Incentive Stipend
The incentive is $5,000.00 for year one and $2500.00 for years two through ten for 2008 only.
SEVA strongly encourages all NBCTs and candidates to contact their representatives and encourage them to support the Virginia National Board Certified Teacher Incentive Stipend. Together we can make a difference.

There is a school system stipend of $1550 each year. Informational programs are offered. Support classes are offered. There is a national board library. Professional leave is offered. Recertification points are offered.
Franklin

Hampton
There is a school system stipend of $2000 each year. Informational programs are offered. Support classes are offered. There is a national board library. The $2300 fee is paid for twenty-five candidates. Retake fees are paid. There is videotaping assistance. Copying privileges are provided. Portfolio postage is provided. Professional leave is offered. Recertification points are awarded.
Isle of Wight
There is a one time $3000 incentive.
New Horizons
There are no incentives.
Newport News
There is a school system stipend of $2500 each year. Informational programs are offered. Support classes are offered. There is a national board library. The $2300 fee is paid if not covered by the state. There is videotaping assistance. Copying privileges are provided. Recertification points are awarded.
Norfolk
There is a school system stipend of $1000 each year. Informational programs are offered. Support classes are offered. There is a national board library. There is partial reimbursment of the $2300 fee. There is retake fee assistance. There is videotaping assistance. Copying privileges are provided. Professional leave is offered. Recertification points are awarded.
Northampton
There are no incentives.
Poquoson
Informational programs are offered. The application fee of $300 is reimbursed. There is videotaping assistance. Copying privileges are provided. Professional leave is offered. Recertification points are awarded.
Portsmouth
There are no incentives.
Southampton
There are no incentives.
Suffolk
There is a school system stipend of $580 each year. Informational programs are offered. There is videotaping assistance. Copying privileges are provided. Professional leave is offered. Recertification points are awarded.
Virginia Beach
Allowance of $3,000. Information recruiting sessions. Support seminars offered. National Board Library available. Up to $2,500 application fee reimbursement, if not paid by the state. DVD assistance. Two days professional leave provided. 180 Recertification points awarded.
Williamsburg / James City County
$5,000 for the first year, $2,500 for years two through ten. If declined by the state, $2000 is paid for a limited number of candidates. Copying privileges are provided. Portfolio postage is provided. Each candidate is offered the guidance of a candidate support provider. Professional leave is granted at the discretion of the candidate's principal.
York
Tuition assistance is provided for NBCT preparation coursework. Candidate can be provided a compensated mentor. Professional leave is offered. Recertification points are awarded.
