What is the fee to pursue National Board Certification?

The fee is $2600. (The Virginia Department of Education and /or your school system may pay a portion or all of this fee.)
Please find your school system on the incentives page.

What support or incentives are available in my pursuit of certification?

Candidate support / incentives vary for each school system.
Find your school system on the incentives page for specific information.
The Virginia Incentive Subsidy is available to all candidates after earning certification.

I would like information about the VDOE Candidate Subsidy Program.

The VDOE will distribute NBPTS candidate subsidy funds to candidates at $1,000 of the certification fee.
Additional support may be available for the other $1,000 portion of the fee.
Candidates are selected randomly by a specified deadline. Grants are distributed among the eight superintendants' regions in the state.

Teachers interested in applying for candidate subsidy funds must submit a grant application form to the VDOE / Division of Teacher Education and Licensure.
