Region II Title I Principal's Information Dinner

National Board Professional Development for Title I Schools
 
NBPTSYou are invited to attend a special informational dinner at Virginia Wesleyan College on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in the Boyd Dining Center on the Virginia Wesleyan College campus. The topic will be National Board Professional Development in Your School Using THNI Take One! Guest presenter will be Keith Gieger, former NEA President and National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) THNI Take One! Coordinator.
THNI Take One! Information will cover:
(1) Real Time Teacher Professional Development Using National Board Standards;
(2) Take One! Portfolio Entry for Each Teacher - An Bankable Application of the National Board Certification Process;
(3) Change Your School's Effectiveness and Culture through Professional Reflection, Collaboration and Action;
(4) $100.00 per teacher participant;
(5) On-Site Management of THNI Take One! Project by NBPTS THNI Representative.
This informational dinner is free to Region II Administrators of Title I Schools.

NBCT Renewal Workshops 
VWC Renewal Workshops Offered this Fall 2010

Virginia Wesleyan College will be offering PDS-NB6 - NBCT Renewal Workshops starting this Fall 2010.  These workshops will be offered to all active NBCTs who have reached the ninth year of their certification and wish to renew their certification for another ten years. Facilitated by SEVA NBCTs Gail Englert and Deb Gaskin, the workshops will be held on five selected Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00 PM on the VWC campus.  Offered through the Adult Studies Program at VWC, teachers who wish to apply can download an application and complete it as an "ACT Track III" applicant. 2010 Candidate Support Provider (CSP) Workshops 
October 29-30, 2010
  
For Region II NBCTs who are interested in offering NBPTS guided mentoring for NBCT candidates, NBPTS is offering Candidate Support Provider (CSP) Training on the Virginia Wesleyan College campus on October 29-30, 2010.  The workshops will be held in the Shafer Room of the VWC Boyd Dining Center. 
Current Region II NBCTs and Region II administrators are welcome to apply.  Current NBCT candidates cannot attend.
Registration Forms will be accepted beginning in September 2010.  Important Note: Those who apply must agree to attend both the Friday and Saturday workshop sessions.  CSP Certification will not be confirmed without attending both sessions.

Advanced Candidate Workshop

VWC-Flame-Half InchVirginia Wesleyan College will offer an Advanced Candidate Workshop on Saturday, January 22, 2011 in the Shafer Room of the VWC Boyd Dining Center from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.  The workshop will be facilitated by NBCTs Isi Kessel and Kelly Dee, both former presidents of SEVA.
The cost of the workshop is free.  Breakfast will be provided.

2011 Principals' Institute for National Board Awareness - March 2011
NBPTS, VWC, and SEVA Present Information to Region II Principals
 
VWC-Flame-Half InchFor Region II administrators who want to find out more about National Board Certification....and the opportunities and school programs provided through Virginia Wesleyan College and the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards....the Principals' Institute for National Board Awareness is a must. 
The institute will be held on Friday, March 5, 2011 in the Shafer Room of the VWC Boyd Dining Center from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM.  It is open to all Region II school administrators..and is free.
Registration will be limited to one administrator per Region II school.
Informal, informative and collaborative, the Principals' Institute brings together representatives from NBPTS, Virginia Wesleyan College and SEVA to present the complete package of programs and program support provided to Region II teachers, schools and school divisions.
Institute materials, buffet breakfast and catered lunch are provided at no cost to participants.

Sixth Annual NBCT Regognition Reception - February 2011
Reception Honors New Region II NBCTs

 

The sixth annual Region II NBCT Recognition Reception will be held in the Boyd Dining Center on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan College on Friday, February 4, 2011 from 6:00-9:00 PM.  The Recognition Reception honors all newly certified Region II NBCTs from this candidate cycle.  In January, 2011, formal invitations will be sent to all new and existing NBCTs in the Region II area, as well as superintendents and school administrators from the new NBCT's school division.
